Concordia Damen is proud to announce the signing of a newbuild contract with Amer Shipping for a CDS 110 Dry Cargo vessel. The agreement was formalised during the Europort exhibition in Rotterdam, where Concordia Damen joined several other Damen divisions to welcome clients and partners. This latest order continues the successful partnership between the two companies, following the deliveries of the AM Voyager, AM Explorer and Johannes Senior. Each vessel in this series is based on Concordia Damen’s in-house developed CDS 110 design – a proven concept optimised for efficiency, sustainability and reliable performance on the European waterways. The 110-metre by 11.45-metre vessel features a shallow draught and high cargo capacity, ensuring reliable operations even during periods of low water levels. Its advanced hull form delivers low resistance, reduced fuel consumption and lower emissions, contributing to a significantly smaller environmental footprint. Sustainable fleet renewal As one of the Netherlands’ pioneering inland shipping companies, operating a fleet of almost 60 vessels, Amer Shipping continues to invest in sustainable fleet renewal and in building sustainable partnerships across the supply chain with shippers, carriers and cargo owners. “We believe all stakeholders should play an active role in their own supply chain and that of its customers and partners,” says Peter Buijks, co-owner of Amer Shipping. “In transport, being able to provide a reliable service is key. That’s why we manage maintenance, planning and technical support ourselves. But we can only do that if our fleet consists of high- quality vessels, and that’s where Concordia Damen comes in.” Providing efficient, low-emission logistics solutions “With the CDS Dry Cargo 110 we can actually transport 200 tons more cargo compared to other 110-meter vessels. Concordia Damen is proud to announce the delivery of a CDS Tanker 135. Last week, the vessel, of proven, in-house design, successfully passed its trials, after having been outfitted at Concordia Damen’s shipyard in Werkendam by its long-time outfitter CCM3, and many trusted suppliers and partners.  MTS Gambler is 135 metres long and 11.45 metres wide and is designed for the transport of mineral oils. It boasts an impressive cargo capacity of 4,180 m³. Due to its proven and optimised design, the vessel sails with minimal resistance and features a favourable speed-power curve. Propulsion is provided by two reliable CAT C32 engines (2 x 709 kW), ensuring low fuel consumption. European inland waterway Karel Jan van de Pol, captain-owner of Gambler Shipping BV, says: "I am very happy with our new ship. For us, this is a new chapter in our business. We trade across the European inland waterway, and we’ll deploy the Gambler as of next week for its first transport. I’ve selected Concordia Damen for our newbuild, because of their team’s personal approach." "They listened well to my wishes, both as to technical matters as with respect to the accommodation, which is our home and must feel as our home. Another reason was the fact these vessels have already proven themselves in practice and that Concordia builds them on stock, which meant a shorter lead time for us. Concordia Damen has received a new contract from Reederei Deymann, one of Germany’s largest inland shipping companies, for the extensive refit of a dry cargo vessel, Hirschhorn. The vessel recently arrived at the Concordia Damen yard in Werkendam, where the transformation project has now started. The project marks another example of the company’s expertise in sustainable fleet renewal. The refit involves the complete renewal of the aft ship. Originally equipped with a single engine, single propeller shaft and an outdated living and wheelhouse arrangement, the vessel will undergo a transformation at Concordia Damen’s yard in Werkendam.  Twin-shaft propulsion system The aft section will be cut off in front of the accommodation to replace the old configuration with a twin-shaft propulsion system powered by two new, fuel-efficient diesel-electric 630 KWE engines. In addition, the accommodation and wheelhouse will be completely rebuilt, offering greater comfort, improved ergonomics and visibility, and compliance with modern operational standards. Lifetime extension The refit will significantly extend the vessel’s lifetime, enhance propulsion efficiency and reliability, and reduce fuel consumption and emissions. In addition, the new configuration enables the vessel to sail in shallow water conditions.
