Raymarine – a global pioneer in high-performance marine electronics — announced the official release of the Pathfinder ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System). The IMO-compliant Pathfinder ECDS is a premier maritime navigation solution for use both as a primary and backup navigation system for all vessel types, from workboats to large cargo ships and superyachts. Pathfinder ECDIS is the culmination of Raymarine’s marine hardware innovation and Chartworld’s 25 years of ECDIS and commercial navigation experience. Raymarine designed the new Pathfinder ECDIS system for commercial vessels over 3,000 gross tons or international passenger vessels over 500 gross tons — optimising it for faster system familiarity and simplified chart installation, thus reducing the need for extensive crew training. Pathfinder ECDIS Pathfinder ECDIS offers an all-around, operator-friendly experience by integrating seamlessly with Chartworld ENC and data services, making navigation smooth and efficient — no matter the journey. Pathfinder ECDIS achieved its IMO certification from DNV, the respected leader in independent standards testing and certification. The system meets International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards — IEC 61174 and IEC 62288 — and is built on rugged Raymarine hardware, optimised for low maintenance, long lifespan and ease of operation. Designed with security in mind Designed with security in mind, the Pathfinder ECDIS is an embedded navigation device rather than running a legacy desktop operating system. Always connected, every Pathfinder ECDIS system includes a ChartWorld eSync onboard gateway. The eSync gateway ensures ENCs and ChartWorld data services remain up to date, anywhere in the world. eSync also enhances the security and ensures compliance with international maritime cybersecurity standards. Additionally, Pathfinder ECDIS runs on a proven, fan-less hardware platform, offering noise free operation and reduced maintenance. LOOKOUT, the award-winning pioneer in AI marine perception, now announced LOOKOUT 3.0, a major upgrade to its industry-defining camera and object-recognition platform. Engineered for premium recreational boats, commercial fleets, and professional operators, LOOKOUT 3.0 introduces breakthrough features that materially improve safety, confidence, and decision-making on the water. System integrates real-time video LOOKOUT continuously scans the water using AI to identify and track hazards, including buoys, debris, floating logs, small craft, and marine mammals. The system integrates real-time video with charts, AIS, radar, depth data, and other NMEA-compatible sensors, displaying a crisp 3D augmented-reality view across modern MFDs from Garmin, Furuno, Raymarine, Simrad, as well as iOS and Android devices. The result: dramatically lower cognitive load, earlier detection, and faster, more accurate navigation decisions. New in LOOKOUT 3.0: A higher standard of situational awareness Aerial View — a Synthetic Bird’s-Eye Co-Pilot: LOOKOUT 3.0 introduces a first-of-its-kind 3D “Aerial View,” giving captains a dynamic overhead perspective from adjustable heights. This gives operators the practical equivalent of a drone hovering above their vessel – ideal for threading through tight harbors, navigating at night, or managing shallow, obstacle-dense waterways. Dynamic Shallow Fences — Real-Time Grounding Protection: Unlike static chartplotters, LOOKOUT now generates dynamic 3D depth fences that rise around the vessel based on its draft and safety buffer. Shallow zones become visually unmistakable, allowing captains to avoid grounding with more confidence and far less guesswork. Ambient Light & Audio Alerts — Smart, Graduated Hazard Cues: LOOKOUT’s three-tier alert system (Awareness → Caution → Evasive Action) can now trigger compatible onboard lighting and audio systems via NMEA messages – subtle yellow glows for “pay attention” and red pulses for “act now” – all designed to keep eyes forward and hands on the helm. Raymarine, a global pioneer in high-performance marine electronics, recently entered a strategic collaboration with The Nippon Foundation-GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project – an ambitious global initiative to inspire 100% of the world’s ocean floor mapped by the year 2030. Raymarine and Seabed 2030 announced the collaboration at the recent Ocean Floor Explore symposium hosted by Map the Gaps and COAST. Ocean Floor Explore brings together industry, technology and philanthropy to promote cross sector collaboration to overcome the obstacles of deep ocean discovery. Launched in 2017, Seabed 2030 is a collaborative effort between The Nippon Foundation and GEBCO (General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans), and is an officially endorsed program of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. Raymarine sonar systems The project aims to compile all available bathymetric data into a freely accessible map of the global seafloor, supporting marine conservation, climate modeling, tsunami forecasting, and sustainable ocean resource management. As part of this collaboration, Raymarine is contributing a unique dataset of crowdsourced bathymetric recordings collected from thousands of vessels equipped with Raymarine sonar systems. This data, gathered from real-world usage across the globe, will enhance the resolution and coverage of existing seafloor maps, particularly in under-surveyed coastal and offshore regions. “We’re proud to support Seabed 2030 in its mission to accelerate the complete mapping of the world’s oceans,” said Grégoire Outters, General Manager at Raymarine. “This collaboration reflects our commitment to safer navigation, better science, and a more sustainable future for the maritime industry.” Crowdsourced bathymetric data “Raymarine’s contribution of crowdsourced bathymetric data is a powerful example of how industry can accelerate our understanding of the ocean floor,” said Jamie McMichael-Phillips, Director of the Seabed 2030 Project. “We welcome their support and look forward to the impact this data will have on our global mapping efforts.” The Nippon Foundation, a private philanthropic organisation based in Tokyo, has been the principal funder of GEBCO’s capacity-building and mapping initiatives for over two decades. Through its support of Seabed 2030 and the GEBCO-Nippon Foundation Training Program at the University of New Hampshire, it has helped train over 100 ocean mappers from more than 45 countries. To date, only 27.3% of the world’s seafloor has been mapped to modern standards. Seabed 2030 aims to close this gap by 2030 through international collaboration, open data sharing, and innovative partnerships like this one.
