Valenciaport has been selected by the MEDports association as a reference centre in the maritime transport sector for the development of digitalisation, training, and cooperation plans.
MEDports, an organisation made up of 25 Mediterranean port authorities that account for 70% of the area’s maritime traffic, has just held a general assembly in which its reorganisation was approved and in which Manuel Rodríguez, head of International Relations and European Policies, was appointed president of the Cooperation & Partnership Committee.

The Assembly has three working groups, including the Cooperation & Partnership Committee, dedicated to working on issues of cooperation, digitalisation and training, which until now was chaired by the Barcelona Port Authority and is now led by Valenciaport. The MEDports Assembly also approved the admission as associate members of the Valenciaport Foundation and the European School.
The aim of the organisation, founded in 2018, is to promote collaboration between Mediterranean ports to meet the new challenges of international trade and logistics, while highlighting the centrality and importance of the Mediterranean in the new global trade flows.
The ports that form part of this international projection organisation are Algesir, Arzew, Barcelona, Bastia, Bejaia, Beirut, Cartagena, Civitaveccia, Damiette, Luka Loper, Malta Freeport, Marseille Fos, Marseille Fos, l’Office de la Marine Mercant de Tunisie, Skikda, Serport, Tarragona, Toulon, Valencia, Venice, the Moroccan National Port Agency, the ports of Alexandria, Durres and Tessaloniki.
