Technology group - Wärtsilä has extended its existing Lifecycle Agreement with TMS Cardiff Gas for another five years, embracing the 2-stroke main engines on board seven LNG Carrier vessels.
This renewal is set to enhance the vessels' operational reliability through adaptable maintenance scheduling and optimised time between overhauls (TBO). The agreement was officially recorded by Wärtsilä in the third quarter of 2025.
LNG demand and delivery schedules
Operators of LNG carriers face a complex mix of regulatory, environmental, and geopolitical issues, alongside significant competition due to oversupply. These factors compel the need for punctual deliveries as well as operational flexibility.

The agreement’s combination of technology, high-quality spare parts delivery and expert support means we can continue to strengthen the operational reliability of these vessels, ensuring we can meet rising global LNG demand and tight delivery schedules.”

A key part of this agreement is Wärtsilä's Dynamic Maintenance Planning service, which allows for flexible maintenance scheduling, extended maintenance intervals, reduced spare parts consumption, and round-the-clock remote operational support, along with comprehensive contract management.
Additionally, it incorporates Wärtsilä's Expert Insight service, a predictive maintenance tool that leverages real-time vessel data to preemptively identify potential issues.
