The visit of the Honourable Minister is in connection with taking forward the cooperation based on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) and Marine Services Company Ltd (MCSL), a company under the Ministry of Transport Tanzania during the state visit to meet the President and Prime Minister of India by the of President H.E.Samia Suluhu Hassan, the United Republic of Tanzania to India in October 2023, wherein the parties aim to cooperate and collaborate in developing infrastructure and ecosystem in the areas of Ship Building and Ship Repair in Tanzania.

Teams the shipyard

The Honourable Minister Prof. Makame Mnyaa Mbarawa was accompanied by Dr. Kheri Omari Goloka, Minister Counsellor, Tanzania High Commission, Mr.Eric Benedict Hamissi, Managing Director, MSCL, and team.

The CSL Team was led by Mr. Madhu S Nair, CMD CSL, and Shri. Sreejith K Narayanan, Director (Operations). A senior management team from CSL also participated in the deliberations.

Ship Repair facility

The visiting team was taken around the CSL facilities for a better understanding of the infrastructure and capabilities of the shipyard.

The visiting delegation is also expected to visit the new International Ship Repair facility of CSL at Willingdon Island. A ride on the Kochi Water Metro is also planned.
