Poole Harbour Commissioners has been successful in its application to the Local Industrial Decarbonisation Plans Funding Competition, run by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, in collaboration with Innovate UK – UK Research and Innovation.
The Local Industrial Decarbonisation Plans (LIDP) competition is providing up to £6 million in grant funding to support dispersed industrial manufacturers not located in the UK’s existing industrial clusters to decarbonise and reduce their emissions.

The competitive grant funding will support the advancement of place-based decarbonisation plans that demonstrate collaboration between closely located industrial businesses, and other stakeholders.
PHC will be working in collaboration with 7 other partners, including BCP Council, Brittany Ferries, Bournemouth University’s Centre for Sustainable Business Transformations, Condor Ferries, Jenkins Marine, SMS Group and Sunseeker International, and maritime consultants - Royal Haskoning DHV, to develop a Decarbonisation Plan for the Port of Poole centered around the Port of Poole estate.

The project will develop a baseline emissions inventory and a set of targets and project options for reducing emissions.
Captain Brian Murphy, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Poole Harbour Commissioners, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded a share of £6m to deliver an ambitious Decarbonisation Plan for the Port of Poole Maritime Industrial Cluster.”

Brian Murphy adds, “Decarbonisation is a strategic objective of our Masterplan vision for the future, and the Port of Poole Cluster is made of innovative and fast growing maritime businesses, who coming together with Bournemouth University and BCP Council, are keen to develop a common vision for decarbonisation and making sure it is tied into the plans for decarbonisation for the wider area.”
