Intellian, renowned for its mobile satellite communication antenna systems, has partnered with Hyundai Global Service (HGS) to unveil a satellite communication package designed for smart ships.
HGS, a subsidiary of Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) Group, is collaborating with Intellian in this first joint initiative, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in July.
Launch of the HGS & Intellian Satellite Package
The new satellite package, launched on 22 October at the 'HGS & Intellian Satellite Package Launching Show' held at Nurimaru APEC House, Busan, integrates HHI’s existing smart ship solution with Intellian’s satellite communications technology.
The event coincided with the start of Kormarine and attracted ship owners and executives from HHI and leading shipping firms. This collaboration aims to marry HHI’s Integrated Smart Ship (ISS) Solution—a digital platform for managing vessels and fleets—with Intellian’s cutting-edge antenna systems.
Standardisation for New-Build HHI Ships
HGS is committed to supporting smart ship solution issues, ensuring quick response times
The partnership between HGS and Intellian will allow for the provision of a standardised smart ship package for new-build ships from HHI. Intellian will gain new customers through this alliance, as the package offers internet connectivity from the initial sea trial, eliminating the need for post-construction network installation.
HGS is committed to supporting smart ship solution issues, ensuring quick response times and reliable service.
Transforming the Smart Ship Landscape
Kwang Heon An, CEO of Hyundai Global Service, remarked, "This new product launch has great implications for us as a disruptive venture which could bring about big changes to the smart ship paradigm." He emphasised the competitive edge the partnership with Intellian provides in delivering customer value and positioning as a market leader.
A Comprehensive Smart Ship Solution
Eric Sung, CEO of Intellian, highlighted the uniqueness of the initiative, stating, "This product is the world’s first comprehensive package for smart ships, and can be realised only through the global No.1 shipbuilding group." He added, "It is the first step to leading the smart ship market. We will deliver a totally new value to market end-users through our innovative technology."
