British autonomous maritime technology company, ZeroUSV, has announced the completion of its third Oceanus12 Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV), signifying an important development in its expanding fleet.

Available for purchase or charter, the new vessel features a distinctive geometric paintwork inspired by the dazzle camouflage of the Royal Navy from the early 1900s, designed to confuse visual navigation rather than conceal.

Ratsey added that following the success of its sistership at Exercise REPMUS, the decision was made to employ this unique design for the latest vessel.

The Oceanus12 employs MarineAI’s GuardianAI autonomy suite, which supports COLREG-compliant navigation, adaptive decision-making, and remote mission control. This advanced software also facilitates the integration of third-party payloads, enhancing the vessel's operational versatility.

Specifications and operational readiness

The Oceanus12 is constructed with an 11.55m aluminium monohull, featuring a maximum beam of 2.33m. It is powered by a twin electric-hybrid propulsion system, boasting an endurance of over 2,500 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 6 knots.

A 1-tonne adaptable payload bay is included, complete with a rapid-change sensor deployment strut, and the vessel uses a low-fuel electric hybrid system with solar charging capabilities.

Soon to enter sea trials, Oceanus12, hull number three, will join its operational peers already servicing areas in Plymouth, UK, and Halifax, Canada, with Leeway Marine. This expansion underscores ZeroUSV’s growth in the autonomous maritime sector, enhancing its capacity to meet diverse maritime needs.
