Framo is advancing its strategic footprint by expanding its factory in Holsnøy, Vestland County. The first phase of this project includes constructing two new halls, each measuring 10,000 square metres, resulting in an additional 20,000 square metres of modern production space.
This expansion underscores a major investment in enhancing capacity, advancing technology, and fostering local economic growth.
Martijn Bergink, Managing Director of Framo and President of Alfa Laval’s Marine Division, stated, "Holsnøy will become a strategic focus area for Framo. All our aquaculture production, as well as future expansion within offshore, will be located there."

The expansion aims to accommodate future demand through increased capacity, creating new job opportunities, and enhancing automation and digitalisation. This move will also bolster Framo's sustainable production initiatives.
Responding to Recent Growth
The rapid growth experienced within Framo's Pumping Systems business unit in Bergen has highlighted the insufficiency of current production capacities. This prompted the launch of a significant investment programme focused on site consolidation and capacity enhancements.
"A major investment program covering site consolidation and capacity investments has been launched, with specific investment decisions to be taken stepwise. But in total, the program is estimated to cost approximately SEK 4 billion between 2025 and 2032," noted Tom Erixson, CEO and President of Alfa Laval.
Long-term development plans
Future development of the newly zoned Holsnøy site is already approved. As the first-phase investment plan is set, Framo is preparing to commence construction. The expansion will unfold in stages as part of an extensive, long-term site development strategy.
