By mid-2026, the Netherlands Coastguard will bolster its fleet with the introduction of ENFORCER, a Damen FCS 5009 vessel.
This addition aims to maintain the continuity of coastguard operations in the North Sea until a new generation of vessels is ready for deployment. The ENFORCER will serve as a temporary but crucial enhancement to the coastguard's capabilities.
Modern enhancement to current fleet
In recent years, the scope of the Coastguard's responsibilities has widened significantly.
To address this, the Rijksrederij, a branch of Rijkswaterstaat responsible for the government fleet, has authorised the charter of the ENFORCER. This modern vessel will support the Coastguard in executing its essential North Sea duties.

Equipped for efficient operations
Thanks to its innovative axe bow, developed by Damen in collaboration with Delft University of Technology, the ENFORCER boasts a top speed of 27 knots.
The vessel is outfitted with two high-speed tenders for inspections, enforcement measures at sea, a towing system, and a fire extinguishing installation.
Strengthening maritime partnerships
This new addition enhances an already successful alliance between the government and maritime enterprises. Multraship currently supplies the Rijksrederij with three Emergency Response and Towing Vessels, which are utilised for emergency towage and coastguard duties.
The ENFORCER builds upon this collaboration, reinforcing the commitment to security in the North Sea.
