Babcock is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Richard Drake as Babcock’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO). He will take up his new role on 1 July 2022, succeeding Dr. Jon Hall who will be retiring later this year.

Jon joined Babcock in 2008 with the acquisition of Strachan and Henshaw and has held several senior management positions before becoming Chief Innovation and Technology Officer in 2020. Babcock would like to thank Jon for his commitment and contribution during his many years of service and wish him all the best for retirement.

Role and responsibilities

Richard also joined Babcock in 2008 and has held several management positions within the Marine Sector. He brings extensive experience and expertise to the role of CTO. 

As CTO, Richard will be responsible for driving innovation and technology across the Group, and he will join the Executive Committee, reporting directly to the Group Chief Executive David Lockwood. Richard will retain accountability as Managing Director for Babcock’s Mission Systems as part of his broader remit.
