ABS has issued an approval in principle (AIP) for the Samsung Remote Operation Centre (SROC), which is a management solution focused on improving the safety and efficiency of maritime vessels and offshore units through remote operations.
The technology underwent a thorough assessment by ABS to ensure it meets the ABS Requirements for Autonomous and Remote-Control Functions. This recognition highlights the SROC's capabilities in managing auxiliary operations, industrial processes, as well as cargo handling, ballast, and trim machinery.

He explained that their independently developed technology facilitates real-time monitoring and remote control for large commercial vessels and offshore units, enhancing safety, aiding efficient maintenance, and supporting the move towards remote inspections and unmanned operations. Lee declared this achievement a crucial advancement towards smart and autonomous ship management.
